Yēlìmǐshū 37:11 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 37:11

And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans were
broken up from Jerusalem
When the siege of the city was broken up and raised: or, when they "went up from Jerusalem" ^F3; were gone from it; for fear of Pharaoh's army;
or rather "because of Pharaoh's army" ^F4. The word "fear" is not in the text; nor did they leave Jerusalem for fear of his army, but to meet it, and give it battle, as they did; however, by this means there was a freer egress and regress from and to the city.

10 Nǐmen jí biàn shā baì le yǔ nǐmen zhēng zhàn de Jiālèdǐ quán jūn , dàn shèngxia shòushāng de rén yĕ bì gèrén cóng zhàngpéng lǐ qǐlai , yòng huǒ fùnshāo zhè chéng .

11 Jiālèdǐ de jūnduì yīn pà fǎlǎo de jūnduì , bá yíng líkāi Yēlùsǎlĕng de shíhou ,

12 Yēlìmǐ jiù zá zaì mín zhōng chū lí Yēlùsǎlĕng , yào wǎng Biànyǎmǐn dì qù , zaì nàli dé zìjǐ de dì yè .

13 Tā dào le Biànyǎmǐn mén nàli , yǒu shǒu mén guān míng jiào yī lì yǎ , shì Hānání yà de sūnzi , Shìlìmǐyǎ de érzi , tā jiù ná zhù xiānzhī Yēlìmǐ , shuō , nǐ shì tóu jiàng Jiālèdǐ rén nǎ .
