Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo1 from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah,2 across from Jericho.3 There the LORD showed4 him the whole land--from Gilead to Dan,52
all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,a63
the Negev7 and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms,8 as far as Zoar.94
Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath10 to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob11 when I said, 'I will give it12 to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross13 over into it."
And Moses the servant of the LORD14 died15 there in Moab, as the LORD had said.
He buried himb in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor,16 but to this day no one knows where his grave is.177
Moses was a hundred and twenty years old18 when he died, yet his eyes were not weak19 nor his strength gone.208
The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab21 thirty days,22 until the time of weeping and mourning23 was over.
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spiritc of wisdom24 because Moses had laid his hands on him.25 So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.
Since then, no prophet26 has risen in Israel like Moses,27 whom the LORD knew face to face,2811
who did all those miraculous signs and wonders29 the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials30 and to his whole land.
For no one has31 ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds32 that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
