You also made the LORD angry1 at Taberah,2 at Massah3 and at Kibroth Hattaavah.423
And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh Barnea,5 he said, "Go up and take possession6 of the land I have given you." But you rebelled7 against the command of the LORD your God. You did not trust8 him or obey him.
You have been rebellious against the LORD ever since I have known you.925
I lay prostrate before the LORD those forty days and forty nights10 because the LORD had said he would destroy you.1126
I prayed to the LORD and said, "O Sovereign LORD, do not destroy your people,12 your own inheritance13 that you redeemed14 by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.1527
Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overlook the stubbornness16 of this people, their wickedness and their sin.
Otherwise, the country17 from which you brought us will say, 'Because the LORD was not able to take them into the land he had promised them, and because he hated them,18 he brought them out to put them to death in the desert.'1929
But they are your people,20 your inheritance21 that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm.22"
