John 19:37-42

37 And again another Scripture says, 1"They will look on him whom they have pierced."

Jesus Is Buried

38 2After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly 3for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.
39 4Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus[a] by night, came 5bringing a mixture of 6myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds[b] in weight.
40 So they took the body of Jesus and 7bound it in 8linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a 9garden, and 10in the garden a new tomb 11in which no one had yet been laid.
42 So because of the Jewish 12day of Preparation, 13since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
