Matthew 21:4-14

4 This took place ¹to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,

5 ²"Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your king is coming to you, ³humble, and mounted on a donkey, and^[a] on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.'"

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.

7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them.

8 Most of the crowd ⁴spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, ⁵"Hosanna to ⁶the Son of David! ⁷Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna ⁸in the highest!"

10 And ⁹when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?"

11 And the crowds said, "This is ¹⁰the prophet Jesus, ¹¹from Nazareth of Galilee."

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

12 ¹²And Jesus entered the temple^[b] and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of ¹³the money-changers and the seats of those who sold ¹⁴pigeons.

13 He said to them, "It is written, ¹⁵'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but ¹⁶you make it a den of robbers."

14 ¹⁷And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
