Matthew 22:31-41

31 And as for the resurrection of the dead, ¹have you not read what was said to you by God:

32 ²'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not God of the dead, but of the living."

33 And when the crowd heard it, ³they were astonished at his teaching.

The Great Commandment

34 ⁴But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced ⁵the Sadducees, they gathered together.

35 ⁶And one of them, ⁷a lawyer, asked him a question ⁸to test him.

36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"

37 And he said to him, ⁹"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

38 This is the great and first commandment.

39 And ¹⁰a second is like it: ¹¹You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

40 ¹²On these two commandments depend ¹³all the Law and the Prophets."
