Mark 12:9

9 "What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the workers and give the vineyard to others.

Mark 12:9 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 12:9

What shall therefore the Lord of the vineyard do?
&c.] The Arabic and Ethiopic versions add, to them; that is, to the husbandmen, as is expressed in ( Matthew 21:40 ) , (See Gill on Matthew 21:40):

he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard
unto others.
As the former clause contains a question put by Christ upon his having finished the parable, this is an answer to it, given by the chief priests, Scribes, and elders, in whose presence, and for whose sake it was delivered; (See Gill on Matthew 21:41).

Mark 12:9 In-Context

7 "But those workers said to one another, 'This is the heir. Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
8 So they took him, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.
9 "What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the workers and give the vineyard to others.
10 Have you never read the Scripture passage: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
11 The Lord has done this, and it is amazing for us to see'?"
