And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate1 to make the people holy2 through his own blood.313
Let us, then, go to him4 outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.514
For here we do not have an enduring city,6 but we are looking for the city that is to come.715
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice8 of praise--the fruit of lips9 that confess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others,10 for with such sacrifices11 God is pleased.
Obey your leaders12 and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you13 as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Pray for us.14 We are sure that we have a clear conscience15 and desire to live honorably in every way.
I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.1620
May the God of peace,17 who through the blood of the eternal covenant18 brought back from the dead19 our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,2021
equip you with everything good for doing his will,21 and may he work in us22 what is pleasing to him,23 through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.2422
Brothers, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written you only a short letter.25
