Jesusanswered,Thou couldest havenopower at all against*me,except it weregiventhee from above:thereforehe that deliveredme unto theehath the greatersin.

And fromthenceforthPilatesought to releasehim:but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this mango, thou artnotCaesar'sfriend:whosoevermakethhimself a king speaketh againstCaesar.

When Pilatethereforeheardthatsaying, he broughtJesusforth,and sat downin the judgment seatin a place that is called the Pavement,but in the Hebrew,Gabbatha.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucifyhim.Pilatesaith unto them, Shall I crucifyyourKing? The chief priestsanswered, We havenokingbutCaesar.

Then the soldiers,when they had crucifiedJesus,tookhisgarments,andmadefourparts, to everysoldier a part; and also his coat:now the coatwas without seam,wovenfrom the topthroughout*.

They saidthereforeamongthemselves, Let usnotrendit,but cast lotsforit,whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, whichsaith, They partedmyraiment among them,andformyvesture they did castlots. These things*therefore the soldiersdid.

The Jewstherefore,because it was the preparation,that the bodiesshouldnotremainupon the crosson the sabbath day,* (for that sabbath daywas an high day,) besoughtPilatethattheirlegs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

AndafterthisJosephofArimathaea,being a disciple of Jesus,butsecretlyforfear of the Jews,besoughtPilatethat he might take away the body of Jesus:andPilate gave him leave. He cametherefore,andtook the body of Jesus.
