Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!8 For the LORD has spoken:9 "I reared children10 and brought them up, but they have rebelled11 against me.

The ox knows12 his master, the donkey his owner's manger,13 but Israel does not know,14 my people do not understand.15"

Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with guilt,16 a brood of evildoers,17 children given to corruption!18 They have forsaken19 the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One20 of Israel and turned their backs21 on him.

Why should you be beaten22 anymore? Why do you persist23 in rebellion?24 Your whole head is injured, your whole heart25 afflicted.266
From the sole of your foot to the top of your head27 there is no soundness28-- only wounds and welts29 and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged30 or soothed with oil.317
Your country is desolate,32 your cities burned with fire;33 your fields are being stripped by foreigners34 right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.358
The Daughter of Zion36 is left37 like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut38 in a field of melons, like a city under siege.

Unless the LORD Almighty had left us some survivors,39 we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.4010
Hear the word of the LORD,41 you rulers of Sodom;42 listen to the law43 of our God, you people of Gomorrah!4411
