Why should you be beaten11 anymore? Why do you persist12 in rebellion?13 Your whole head is injured, your whole heart14 afflicted.156
From the sole of your foot to the top of your head16 there is no soundness17-- only wounds and welts18 and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged19 or soothed with oil.207
Your country is desolate,21 your cities burned with fire;22 your fields are being stripped by foreigners23 right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.248
The Daughter of Zion25 is left26 like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut27 in a field of melons, like a city under siege.
Unless the LORD Almighty had left us some survivors,28 we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.2910
Hear the word of the LORD,30 you rulers of Sodom;31 listen to the law32 of our God, you people of Gomorrah!3311

Stop bringing meaningless offerings!39 Your incense40 is detestable41 to me. New Moons,42 Sabbaths and convocations43-- I cannot bear your evil assemblies.
