Terror1 and pit and snare2 await you, O people of the earth.3
18
Whoever flees4 at the sound of terror will fall into a pit;5 whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare.6 The floodgates of the heavens7 are opened, the foundations of the earth shake.8

The earth is broken up,9 the earth is split asunder,10 the earth is thoroughly shaken.
20
The earth reels like a drunkard,11 it sways like a hut12 in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion13 that it falls14--never to rise again.15
21
In that day16 the LORD will punish17 the powers18 in the heavens above and the kings19 on the earth below.
22
They will be herded together like prisoners20 bound in a dungeon;21 they will be shut up in prison and be punisheda after many days.22
23
The moon will be abashed, the sun23 ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign24 on Mount Zion25 and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.26
