1
In the year that King Uzziah1 died,2 I saw the Lord3 seated on a throne,4 high and exalted,5 and the train of his robe6 filled the temple.
2
Above him were seraphs,7 each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,8 and with two they were flying.
3
And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy9, holy is the LORD Almighty;10 the whole earth11 is full of his glory."124
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.135
"Woe14 to me!" I cried. "I am ruined!15 For I am a man of unclean lips,1617 and I live among a people of unclean lips,18 and my eyes have seen19 the King,20 the LORD Almighty."216
Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal22 in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7
With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips;23 your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.24"
