Fear God

11 The LORD spoke to me with his strong hand upon me,1 warning me not to follow2 the way of this people. He said: 12 "Do not call conspiracy3 everything that these people call conspiracya; do not fear what they fear,4 and do not dread it.5 13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,6 he is the one you are to fear,7 he is the one you are to dread,8 14 and he will be a sanctuary;9 but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone10 that causes men to stumble11 and a rock that makes them fall.12 And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.13 15 Many of them will stumble;14 they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured." 16 Bind up the testimony15 and seal16 up the law among my disciples. 17 I will wait17 for the LORD, who is hiding18 his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him.19 18 Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me.20 We are signs21 and symbols22 in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.23 19 When men tell you to consult24 mediums and spiritists,25 who whisper and mutter,26 should not a people inquire27 of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the law28 and to the testimony!29 If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light30 of dawn. 21 Distressed and hungry,31 they will roam through the land;32 when they are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse33 their king and their God. 22 Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom,34 and they will be thrust into utter darkness.35
