The wind1 will drive all your shepherds2 away, and your allies3 will go into exile. Then you will be ashamed and disgraced4 because of all your wickedness.
You who live in 'Lebanon,a5' who are nestled in cedar buildings, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain6 like that of a woman in labor!
"As surely as I live," declares the LORD, "even if you, Jehoiachinb7 son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were a signet ring8 on my right hand, I would still pull you off.
I will hand you over9 to those who seek your life, those you fear--to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Babylonians.c26
I will hurl10 you and the mother11 who gave you birth into another country, where neither of you was born, and there you both will die.
You will never come back to the land you long to return12 to."
Is this man Jehoiachin13 a despised, broken pot,14 an object no one wants? Why will he and his children be hurled15 out, cast into a land16 they do not know?
O land,17 land, land, hear the word of the LORD!
This is what the LORD says: "Record this man as if childless,18 a man who will not prosper19 in his lifetime, for none of his offspring20 will prosper, none will sit on the throne21 of David or rule anymore in Judah."
