So they entered Egypt1 in disobedience to the LORD and went as far as Tahpanhes.28
In Tahpanhes3 the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
"While the Jews are watching, take some large stones4 with you and bury them in clay in the brick5 pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh's palace6 in Tahpanhes.
Then say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I will send for my servant7 Nebuchadnezzar8 king of Babylon, and I will set his throne9 over these stones I have buried here; he will spread his royal canopy10 above them.
He will come and attack Egypt,11 bringing death12 to those destined13 for death, captivity to those destined for captivity,14 and the sword to those destined for the sword.1512
Hea will set fire16 to the temples17 of the gods18 of Egypt; he will burn their temples and take their gods captive.19 As a shepherd wraps20 his garment around him, so will he wrap Egypt around himself and depart from there unscathed.
There in the temple of the sunb21 in Egypt he will demolish the sacred pillars22 and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.' "
