"Is not God in the heights of heaven?1 And see how lofty are the highest stars!
Yet you say, 'What does God know?2 Does he judge through such darkness?3
Thick clouds4 veil him, so he does not see us5 as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.'6
Will you keep to the old path that evil men7 have trod?8
They were carried off before their time,9 their foundations10 washed away by a flood.11
They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?'12
Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things,13 so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.14
"The righteous see their ruin and rejoice;15 the innocent mock16 them, saying,
'Surely our foes are destroyed,17 and fire18 devours their wealth.'
"Submit to God and be at peace19 with him;20 in this way prosperity will come to you.21
Accept instruction from his mouth22 and lay up his words23 in your heart.24
