For out ofmuchafflictionandanguish of heart I wrote unto youwithmanytears;notthat ye should be grieved, butthat ye might know the lovewhich I have more abundantlyuntoyou.

But if any have caused grief, he hathnotgrievedme,butinpart:that I maynotoverchargeyouall.

Sufficient to such a man is thispunishment,[a]which was inflicted ofmany.

So that contrariwiseye ought rather to forgive him, andcomfort him, lestperhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuchsorrow.

Wherefore I beseechyou that ye would confirm your lovetowardhim.

Forto this endalso did I write, that I might know the proof of you,whether ye beobedientin all things.

Towhom ye forgive any thing,I forgive also:forifIforgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakesforgave I it in the person[b] of Christ;

LestSatanshould get an advantage of us: for we are notignorant of hisdevices.

Furthermore, when I cametoTroasto preach Christ'sgospel,and a door was opened unto meof the Lord,

I hadnorest in myspirit, because IfoundnotTitusmybrother:but taking my leave of them, I went from thenceintoMacedonia.

Nowthanks be unto God, which alwayscausethus to triumphinChrist,and maketh manifest the savour of hisknowledgebyusineveryplace.

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ,in them that are saved, andin them that perish:

To the one we are the savour of deathuntodeath;and to the other the savour of lifeuntolife.Andwho is sufficientfor these things?

For we arenotasmany, which corrupt[c] the word of God:butasofsincerity,butasofGod, in the sight of God speak weinChrist.
