Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,so that things which are seenwerenotmadeof things which do appear .

By faithAbeloffered unto God a more excellentsacrificethanCain,bywhich he obtained witness that he wasrighteous,Godtestifyingofhisgifts:andbyit he being deadyetbspeaketh .

By faithEnoch was translated that he shouldnotseedeath;andwasnotfound , becauseGod had translatedhim:forbeforehistranslation he had this testimony , that he pleasedGod.6Butwithoutfaith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to Godmustbelievethat he is , and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seekhim.7

12Therefore sprang thereevenofone,andhim as good as dead , so many as the stars of the sky in multitude,andas the sandwhich is by the seashoreinnumerable.13Thesealldiedinfaith,cnot having received the promises,but having seenthem afar off,and were persuaded of them, andembraced them, andconfessedthat they werestrangersandpilgrimson the earth.14For they that say such things declare plainlythat they seek a country.15Andtruly,if they had been mindful of that country fromwhence they came out , they might have hadopportunity to have returned .
16Butnow they desire a better country, that is , an heavenly:whereforeGodisnotashamed to be calledtheirGod:for he hath prepared for them a city.17
By faithAbraham, when he was tried , offered upIsaac:and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18Ofwhom it was said , ThatinIsaacshallthyseed be called :
19AccountingthatGod was able to raise him up , evenfrom the dead; from whencealso he receivedhimin a figure.20
By faithIsaacblessedJacobandEsauconcerning things to come .

By faithJacob, when he was a dying , blessedboth the sons of Joseph;andworshipped , leaning upon the top of hisstaff.22
By faithJoseph, when he died , made mentionof the departing of the children of Israel;and gave commandmentconcerninghisbones.23
By faithMoses, when he was born , was hid three monthsofhisparents,because they saw he was a properchild;and they werenotafraid of the king'scommandment.24

By faith he forsookEgypt,notfearing the wrath of the king:for he endured , asseeing him who is invisible.28
Through faith he kept the passover,and the sprinkling of blood,lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touchthem.29

They were stoned , they were sawn asunder , were tempted , were slainwith the sword : they wandered aboutinsheepskinsandgoatskins ; being destitute , afflicted , tormented ;

(Of whom the worldwasnot worthy:) they wanderedindeserts,and in mountains,and in densandcaves of the earth.39Andtheseall, having obtained a good reportthroughfaith,receivednot the promise:40God having providedesomebetterthingforus,thattheywithoutusshouldnot be made perfect .
