16Butnow they desire a better country, that is , an heavenly:whereforeGodisnotashamed to be calledtheirGod:for he hath prepared for them a city.17
By faithAbraham, when he was tried , offered upIsaac:and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18Ofwhom it was said , ThatinIsaacshallthyseed be called :
19AccountingthatGod was able to raise him up , evenfrom the dead; from whencealso he receivedhimin a figure.20

They were stoned , they were sawn asunder , were tempted , were slainwith the sword : they wandered aboutinsheepskinsandgoatskins ; being destitute , afflicted , tormented ;
(Of whom the worldwasnot worthy:) they wanderedindeserts,and in mountains,and in densandcaves of the earth.39Andtheseall, having obtained a good reportthroughfaith,receivednot the promise:40God having providedesomebetterthingforus,thattheywithoutusshouldnot be made perfect .
