4Forifhewereonearth, he shouldnotbe a priest, seeing that there arepriests that offergiftsaccording to the law:5Whoserve unto the exampleandshadow of heavenly things,asMoses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle:for,See , saith he , that thou make all things according to the patternshewed to theein the mount.6Butnow hath he obtained a more excellentministry, by how muchalso he is the mediator of a bettercovenant, bwhich was establisheduponbetterpromises.7Forifthatfirst covenant had beenfaultless, then shouldnoplace have been sought for the second.8For finding fault with them, he saith , Behold , the dayscome , saith the Lord, when I will make a newcovenantwith the house of Israelandwith the house of Judah:9Not according to the covenantthat I made withtheirfathersin the day when I tookthem by the handtoleadthem out of the land of Egypt;becausetheycontinuednotinmycovenant, and Iregardedthemnot , saith the Lord.10Forthis is the covenantthat I will make with the house of Israelafterthosedays, saith the Lord; I will putcmylawsintotheirmind, andwritethemintheirhearts:and I will betothem a God,andthey shall betome a people:11And they shallnotteach every manhisneighbour, and every manhisbrother, saying , Know the Lord:forall shall knowme, from the leastto the greatest .
12For I will bemerciful to theirunrighteousness, andtheirsinsandtheiriniquities will I remembernomore.13In that he saith , A new covenant, he hath made the firstold . Now that which decayethand waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
