And he said, Verily I say unto you*, Noprophetisacceptedin his owncountry.

But I tellyouof a truth,manywidowswereinIsraelin the days of Elias,when the heaven was shut up*threeyearsandsixmonths,whengreatfaminewasthroughoutall the land;

Butuntonone of themwasEliassent, saveuntoSarepta, a city of Sidon,unto a woman that was a widow.

AndmanyleperswereinIsrael in the time of Eliseus the prophet;andnone of them was cleansed, savingNaaman the Syrian.

And all theyin the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

And rose up, and thrusthim out of the city,andledhimunto the brow[a] of the hillwhereon*theircity was built, that they might casthim down headlong.

Buthepassingthrough the midst of them went his way,

And came downtoCapernaum, a city of Galilee,andtaughtthem*on the sabbath days.

And they were astonishedathisdoctrine:forhiswordwaswithpower.

Andin the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an uncleandevil,and cried out with a loudvoice,

Saying, Let us alone;[b]what have we to do with thee*, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroyus? I knowtheewho thou art; the Holy One of God.
