6But there werecertain of the scribessittingthere,andreasoningintheirhearts,7Whydoththis man thusspeakblasphemies?whocanforgivesinsbutGodonly?8Andimmediately when Jesusperceived in hisspiritthat they soreasonedwithinthemselves, he said unto them,Why reason ye these thingsinyourhearts?9Whether is iteasier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiventhee;or to say , Arise , and take upthybed,andwalk ?10Butthat ye may knowthat the Son of manhathpoweronearth to forgivesins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

I say unto thee,Arise , and take upthybed,and go thy wayintothinehouse.12Andimmediately he arose , took up the bed,and went forthbefore them all; insomuch that they wereallamazed , andglorifiedGod,saying , Weneversaw it on this fashion.13And he went forthagainby the sea side;andall the multituderesorteduntohim,and he taughtthem.14And as he passed by , he sawLevi the son of Alphaeussittingat the receipt of custom,andsaid unto him,Followme.And he arose and followedhim.15And it came to pass , that, as Jesus sat at meatinhishouse,manypublicansandsinnerssatalso together withJesusandhisdisciples:for there weremany,and they followedhim.16And when the scribesandPhariseessawhimeatwithpublicansandsinners, they said unto hisdisciples,How is it that he eatethanddrinkethwithpublicansandsinners?
