As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying , The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written ,
And he said , Verily I say unto you , No prophet is accepted in his own country.
And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed , saving Naaman the Syrian.
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying , That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
But what went ye out for to see ? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying , This man, if he were a prophet , would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
And of some, that Elias had appeared ; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again .
They answering said , John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again .
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see , and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear , and have not heard them.
Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute :
That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following : for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together , as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached , and every man presseth into it.
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded , though one rose from the dead.
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold , we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished .

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken :
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled , which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
