And I stoodupon the sand of the sea,andsaw a beast rise up out of the sea,havingsevenheadsandtenhorns,anduponhishornstencrowns,anduponhisheads the name[a] of blasphemy.

And the beastwhich I sawwaslike unto a leopard,andhisfeet were as the feet of a bear,andhismouthas the mouth of a lion:and the dragongavehimhispower,andhisseat,andgreatauthority.

And I sawone of hisheads as it werewounded[b]todeath;andhisdeadlywound was healed: andall the worldwonderedafterthebeast.

And they worshipped the dragonwhichgavepower unto the beast:and they worshipped the beast,saying, Who is like unto the beast?who is able to make warwithhim?

And there was given unto him a mouthspeaking great thingsandblasphemies;andpower was given unto him to continue[c]forty and twomonths.

And he openedhismouthinblasphemyagainstGod, to blasphemehisname,andhistabernacle,and them that dwellinheaven.

And it was given unto him to makewarwith the saints,and to overcomethem:andpower was givenhimoverallkindreds,andtongues,andnations.

Andall that dwellupon the earth shall worshiphim,whosenamesarenotwrittenin the book of life of the Lambslainfrom the foundation of the world.

He thatleadeth into captivity shall gointocaptivity: he thatkillethwith the swordmust be killedwith the sword.Hereis the patienceand the faith of the saints.

And I beheldanotherbeast coming up out of the earth;and he hadtwohornslike a lamb,and he spakeas a dragon.

And he exercisethall the power of the firstbeastbeforehim,andcauseth the earthand them which dwelltherein*toworship the firstbeast,whose*deadlywound was healed.

And he doethgreatwonders,sothat he makethfire come downfromheavenon the earth in the sight of men,

Anddeceiveth them that dwellon the earthby the means of those miracleswhichhe had power to do in the sight of the beast;saying to them that dwellon the earth, that they should make an image to the beast,whichhad the wound by a sword,and did live.

Andhe had power to givelife[d] unto the image of the beast,that the image of the beastshouldbothspeak, andcause that as many aswould*notworship the image of the beast should be killed*.

Andhecausethall, both smallandgreat*, richandpoor*, freeandbond,toreceive[e] a markintheir right hand*, orintheirforeheads:

And that nomanmightbuyorsell, save he that had the mark,or the name of the beast,or the number of hisname.

Hereiswisdom. Let him that hathunderstandingcount the number of the beast:for it is the number of a man;andhisnumber is Six hundred threescore and six.
