1And I stoodupon the sand of the sea, andsaw a beast rise up out of the sea, havingsevenheadsandtenhorns, anduponhishornstencrowns, anduponhisheads the namea of blasphemy.2And the beastwhich I sawwaslike unto a leopard, andhisfeet were as the feet of a bear, andhismouthas the mouth of a lion:and the dragongavehimhispower,andhisseat,andgreatauthority.3And I sawone of hisheads as it werewoundedbtodeath;andhisdeadlywound was healed : andall the worldwonderedafterthebeast.4And they worshipped the dragonwhichgavepower unto the beast:and they worshipped the beast, saying , Who is like unto the beast?who is able to make warwithhim?5And there was given unto him a mouthspeaking great thingsandblasphemies;andpower was given unto him to continuecforty and twomonths.6And he openedhismouthinblasphemyagainstGod, to blasphemehisname, andhistabernacle, and them that dwellinheaven.7And it was given unto him to makewarwith the saints, and to overcomethem:andpower was givenhimoverallkindreds,andtongues,andnations.8Andall that dwellupon the earth shall worshiphim, whosenamesarenotwrittenin the book of life of the Lambslainfrom the foundation of the world.9
If any manhave an ear, let him hear .
He thatleadeth into captivity shall gointocaptivity: he thatkillethwith the swordmust be killedwith the sword.Hereis the patienceand the faith of the saints.11And I beheldanotherbeast coming up out of the earth;and he hadtwohornslike a lamb, and he spakeas a dragon.12And he exercisethall the power of the firstbeastbeforehim, andcauseth the earthand them which dwellthereintoworship the firstbeast, whosedeadlywound was healed .
13And he doethgreatwonders, sothat he makethfire come downfromheavenon the earth in the sight of men,14Anddeceiveth them that dwellon the earthby the means of those miracleswhichhe had power to do in the sight of the beast;saying to them that dwellon the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, whichhad the wound by a sword, and did live .
15Andhe had power to givelifed unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beastshouldbothspeak , andcause that as many aswouldnotworship the image of the beast should be killed .
16Andhecausethall, both smallandgreat , richandpoor , freeandbond, toreceivee a markintheir right hand , orintheirforeheads:17And that nomanmightbuyorsell , save he that had the mark,or the name of the beast,or the number of hisname.18Hereiswisdom. Let him that hathunderstandingcount the number of the beast:for it is the number of a man;andhisnumber is Six hundred threescore and six.
