For thiscause left ItheeinCrete,that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting ,aandordainelders in everycity,asI had appointedthee:6
If anybeblameless, the husband of onewife,havingfaithfulchildrennotaccusedofriotorunruly.7For a bishopmustbeblameless,as the steward of God;notselfwilled,not soon angry,not given to wine,nostriker,not given to filthy lucre;8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men,bsober,just,holy,temperate;9
Holding fast the faithfulwordasc he hath been taught,that he may beablebysounddoctrineboth to exhortand to convince the gainsayers .
10For there aremanyunrulyand vain talkersanddeceivers,specially they of the circumcision:11Whosemouthsmust be stopped , whosubvertwholehouses,teaching things which they oughtnot,forfilthylucre'ssake.12Oneofthemselves, even a prophet of theirown,said , The Cretians are alwayliars,evilbeasts,slowbellies.13Thiswitnessistrue.Whereforerebukethemsharply,that they may be soundin the faith;14Not giving heed to Jewishfables,andcommandments of men, that turn from the truth.
