Deuteronomy 9:27

Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
The covenant he had made with them, the promises he had made to them of the multiplication of their seed, and of giving the land of Canaan to them; which is a third argument used with the Lord not to destroy them:

look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness,
nor to their sin;
nor to the natural temper and disposition of the people, which was to be stubborn, obstinate, stiffnecked, and self-willed; nor to their wickedness, which appears in various instances; nor to that particular sin of idolatry they had now been guilty, of; tacitly owning that if God looked to these things, there was sufficient reason to destroy them.

25 Je me prosternai devant l'Eternel, je me prosternai quarante jours et quarante nuits, parce que l'Eternel avait dit qu'il voulait vous détruire.

26 Je priai l'Eternel, et je dis: Seigneur Eternel, ne détruis pas ton peuple, ton héritage, que tu as racheté dans ta grandeur, que tu as fait sortir d'Egypte par ta main puissante.

27 Souviens-toi de tes serviteurs, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob. Ne regarde point à l'opiniâtreté de ce peuple, à sa méchanceté et à son péché,

28 de peur que le pays d'où tu nous as fait sortir ne dise: C'est parce que l'Eternel n'avait pas le pouvoir de les mener dans le pays qu'il leur avait promis, et c'est parce qu'il les haïssait, qu'il les a fait sortir pour les faire mourir dans le désert.

29 Ils sont pourtant ton peuple et ton héritage, que tu as fait sortir d'Egypte par ta grande puissance et par ton bras étendu.
