Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need1 before you ask him.

"This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father2 in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom3 come, your will be done4 on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.5

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.6

And lead us not into temptation,7 but deliver us from the evil one.a '8
