Genesis 27:8 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 27:8

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice
Hearken to what I am about to say, and do according to that which I command thee, in every particular;
she required of him filial obedience to all that she enjoined him; which, though not difficult to be performed, she was aware Jacob would make objections to, as he did; and therefore she is so pressing and peremptory in her injunctions, as well knowing it was respecting an affair of the greatest moment and importance.

Genesis 27:8 In-Context

6 Rebekah spoke to her son Jacob. "I just overheard your father talking with your brother, Esau. He said,
7 'Bring me some game and fix me a hearty meal so that I can eat and bless you with God's blessing before I die.'
8 "Now, my son, listen to me. Do what I tell you.
9 Go to the flock and get me two young goats. Pick the best; I'll prepare them into a hearty meal, the kind that your father loves.
10 Then you'll take it to your father, he'll eat and bless you before he dies."
