Sanctification and Love

1 1Finally then, 2brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to a3walk and 4please God (just as you actually do bwalk ), that you 5excel still more. 2 For you know what commandments we gave you cby the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification ; that is, that you 6abstain from dsexual immorality ; 4 that 7each of you know how to epossess his own f8vessel in sanctification and 9honor, 5 not in g10lustful passion, like the Gentiles who 11do not know God ; 6 and that no man transgress and 12defraud his brother 13in the matter because 14the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also 15told you before and solemnly warned you. 7 For 16God has not called us for 17the purpose of impurity, but hin sanctification. 8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who 18gives His Holy Spirit to you. 9 Now as to the 19love of the brethren, you 20have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are 21taught by God to love one another ; 10 for indeed 22you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to 23excel still more, 11 and to make it your ambition 24to lead a quiet life and 25attend to your own business and 26work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12 so that you will i27behave properly toward 28outsiders and j29not be in any need.

Those Who Died in Christ

13 But 30we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who 31are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do 32the rest who have 33no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, 34even so God will bring with Him 35those who have fallen asleep kin Jesus. 15 For this we say to you 36by the word of the Lord, that 37we who are alive land remain until 38the coming of the Lord, will not precede 39those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord 40Himself 41will descend from heaven with a m42shout, with the voice of 43the archangel and with the 44trumpet of God, and 45the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then 46we who are alive nand remain will be 47caught up together with them 48in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always 49be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
