he is 6conceited and understandsnothing ; but he dhas a morbidinterest in 7controversialquestions and 8disputesaboutwords, out of whichariseenvy, strife, abusivelanguage, evilsuspicions,
and constantfriction between 9men of depravedmind and deprived of the truth, who 10suppose that egodliness is a means of gain.
611But godliness actually is a means of 12greatgain when accompanied by 13contentment.
For 14we have broughtnothing into the world, so we cannottakeanything out of it either.
If we 15havefood and covering, with these we shall be content.
916But those who want to getrichfall into temptation and 17a snare and manyfoolish and harmfuldesireswhichplungemen into ruin and destruction.
For 18the love of money is a root of allfsorts of evil, and some by longing for it have 19wanderedaway from the faith and piercedthemselves with manygriefs.
But 20flee from thesethings, you 21man of God, and pursuerighteousness, godliness, 22faith, 23love, gperseverance and gentleness.
