And they began callingBarnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chiefspeaker.

The priest of Zeus, whose temple was justoutside the city, broughtoxen and garlands to the gates, and 4wanted to offersacrifice with the crowds.

But when 5the apostlesBarnabas and Paulheard of it, they 6tore their robes and rushed out into the crowd, crying out

and saying, "Men, why are you doingthesethings? We are also7men of the samenature as you, and 8preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these9vainthings to a 10livingGod, 11WHOMADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM.

and yet14He did not leaveHimselfwithoutwitness, in that He didgood and 15gave you rains from heaven and fruitfulseasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."

Even sayingthesethings, with difficulty they restrained the crowds from offeringsacrifice to them.

But 16Jewscame from 17Antioch and 18Iconium, and having wonover the crowds, they 19stonedPaul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

But while 20the disciplesstoodaround him, he got up and entered the city. The nextday he wentaway with Barnabas to 21Derbe.
