And when they had summoned them, they 2commanded them not to speakorteach at all in the name of Jesus.

But 3Peter and Johnanswered and said to them, "4Whether it is right in the sight of God to giveheed to you ratherthan to God, you be the judge;

for 5we cannot*stopspeaking about what we have seen and heard."

When they had threatened them further, they let them go (findingnobasis on which to punish them) 6on account of the people, because they were all7glorifyingGod for what had happened;

for the man was more than fortyyears old on whomthismiracle of healing had been performed.

When they had been released, they went to their own companions and reportedall that the chiefpriests and the elders had said to them.

And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with oneaccord and said, "O Lord, it is You who 8MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM

who 9by the HolySpirit, through the mouth of our fatherDavid Your servant, said, '10WHY* DID THE GENTILESRAGE, AND THE PEOPLESDEVISEFUTILETHINGS?

'11THE KINGS OF THE EARTHTOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS WERE GATHEREDTOGETHER**AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS 12CHRIST.'
