For 4when Godmade the promise to Abraham, since He couldswear by noonegreater, He 5swore by Himself,
14saying, "6I WILL SURELYBLESS YOU AND I WILL SURELYMULTIPLY YOU."

And so, 7having patientlywaited, he obtained the promise.
168For menswear by aonegreater than themselves, and with them 9an oath given as confirmation is an end of everydispute.
17bIn the same way God, desiringevenmore to show to 10the heirs of the promise11the unchangeableness of His purpose, cinterposed with an oath,
18so that by twounchangeablethings in which12it is impossible for God to lie, we who have dtakenrefuge would havestrongencouragement to takehold of 13the hopesetbefore us.
