153If a brotherorsister is withoutclothing and in need of dailyfood,
16
and one of you says to them, "4Go in peace, bbe warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, whatuse is that?
17Evenso5faith, if it hasnoworks, is cdead, being by itself.
186But someonedmay well say, "You havefaith and I haveworks ; show me your 7faithwithout the works, and I will 8show you my faith9by my works."
19
You believe that e10God is one. 11You dowell ; 12the demonsalsobelieve, and shudder.
20
But are you willing to recognize, 13you foolishfellow, that 14faithwithoutworks is useless ?
2115Was not Abraham our fatherjustified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar ?
22
You see that 16faith was working with his works, and fas a result of the 17works, faith was gperfected ;
23
and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "18AND ABRAHAMBELIEVEDGOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called19the friend of God.
24
You see that a man is justified by works and not by faithalone.
