John 14:7-17

Oneness with the Father

7 "1If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you 2know Him, and have 3seen Him."
8 4Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us."
9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long * with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? 5He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father '?
10 "Do you not believe that 6I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? 7The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
11 "Believe Me that 8I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise 9believe because of the works themselves.
12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and 10greater works than these he will do; because 11I go to the Father.
13 "12Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that 13the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 "If you ask Me anything 14in My name, I will do it.
15 "15If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Role of the Spirit

16 "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another 16Helper, that He may be with you forever;
17 that is 17the Spirit of truth, 18whom the world cannot * receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
