27Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the discipletook her into 1his own household.
28Afterthis, Jesus, 2knowing that allthings had already been accomplished, 3to fulfill the Scripture, said, "4I amthirsty."29
A jarfull of sourwine was standing there; so5they put a spongefull of the sourwine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.
30ThereforewhenJesus had received the sourwine, He said, "6It is finished!" And He bowed His head and 7gave up His spirit.
31Then the Jews, because it was 8the day of preparation, so that 9the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (afor that Sabbath was a 10highday ), askedPilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be takenaway.
32So the soldierscame, and broke the legs of the firstman and of the other who was 11crucified with Him;
but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was alreadydead, they did not break His legs.
But one of the soldierspierced His side with a spear, and immediately12blood and watercame out.
And he who has seen has 13testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.
For thesethingscame to pass14to fulfill the Scripture, "15NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE bBROKEN."
And againanotherScripturesays, "16THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED."
