Care of the Body of Jesus
31Then the Jews, because it was 4the day of preparation, so that 5the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a 6highday ), askedPilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be takenaway.
32
So the soldierscame, and broke the legs of the firstman and of the other who was 7crucified with Him;
33
but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was alreadydead, they did not break His legs.
34
But one of the soldierspierced His side with a spear, and immediately8blood and watercame out.

For thesethingscame to pass10to fulfill the Scripture, "11NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."
37
And againanotherScripturesays, "12THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED."

13AfterthesethingsJoseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a 14secret one for 15fear of the Jews, askedPilate that he might takeaway the body of Jesus; and Pilategrantedpermission. So he came and tookaway His body.
