15Sowhen they had 2finishedbreakfast, Jesussaid to SimonPeter, "Simon, son of John, do you 3love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend4My lambs."

He said to him again a secondtime, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "5Shepherd My sheep."

He said to him the thirdtime, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?"Peter was grievedbecause He said to him 6the thirdtime, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, 7You knowallthings; You know that I love You." Jesussaid to him, "8Tend My sheep.

18"Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to girdyourself and walkwherever you wished; but when you growold, you will stretch out your hands and someoneelse will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go."

Nowthis He said, 9signifying by 10whatkind of death he would glorifyGod. And when He had spokenthis, He said to him, "11Follow Me!"

Peter, turningaround, saw the 12disciplewhomJesuslovedfollowing them; the one whoalso had 13leanedback on His bosom at the supper and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"

SoPeterseeing him said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about thisman?"

Jesussaid to him, "If I want him to remain14until I come, what is that to you? You 15follow Me!"

Thereforethissayingwent out among16the brethren that that disciple would not die; yetJesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, "If I want him to remain17until I come, what is that to you?"

This is the disciple who 18is testifying to thesethings and wrotethesethings, and we know that his testimony is true.
