Being unable* to get to Him because of the crowd, they 1removed the roofabove Him; and when they had dug an opening, they letdown the pallet on which the 2paralytic was lying.

And Jesusseeing their faithsaid to the paralytic, "Son, 3your sins are forgiven."

But some of the scribes were sittingthere and reasoning in their hearts,

"Why does thismanspeak that way? He is blaspheming; 4whocanforgivesins but Godalone?"

ImmediatelyJesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that waywithinthemselves, said to them, "Why are you reasoning about thesethings in your hearts?

"Which is easier, to say to the 5paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven '; or to say, 'Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk '?

"But so that you may know that the Son of Manhasauthority on earth to forgivesins "-He said to the paralytic,

"I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and gohome."

And he got up and immediatelypicked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were allamazed and 6were glorifyingGod, saying, "7We have neverseen anything likethis."

And He went out again by the seashore; and 8all the people were coming to Him, and He was teaching them.
