and he had his dwellingamong the tombs. And noone was able to bind him anymore, even with a chain;
4because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been tornapart by him and the shacklesbroken in pieces, and noone was strongenough to subdue him.
5Constantly, night and day, he was screamingamong the tombs and in the mountains, and gashinghimself with stones.
6SeeingJesus from a distance, he ran up and boweddownbefore Him;
and shouting with a loudvoice, he said, "a1What business do we have with each other, Jesus, 2Son of 3the MostHighGod? I implore You by God, do not torment me!"
For He had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you uncleanspirit!"9
And He was asking him, "What is your name?" And he said to Him, "My name is 4Legion; for we are many."
And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country.
11Now there was a largeherd of swinefeedingbnearby on the mountain.
The demons implored Him, saying, "Send us into the swineso that we may enter them."
Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the uncleanspiritsentered the swine; and the herdrusheddown the steepbank into the sea, abouttwothousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.
