As they were going out, 1a mute, 2demon-possessedman was brought to Him.

After the demon was cast out, the mutemanspoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "3Nothinglikethis has ever been seen in Israel."

But the Pharisees were saying, "He 4casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."

Jesus was goingthroughall the cities and villages, 5teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healingeverykind of disease and everykind of sickness.

6Seeing the people, He feltcompassion for them, 7because they were distressed and dispiritedlikesheepwithout* a shepherd.

Then He said to His disciples, "8The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

"Thereforebeseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."
