Isaiah 10:1-8

1 Woe to those who enact evil statutes And to those who constantly record unjust decisions,
2 So as to deprive the needy of justice And rob the poor of My people of their rights, So that widows may be their spoil And that they may plunder the orphans.
3 Now what will you do in the day of punishment, And in the devastation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your wealth?
4 Nothing remains but to crouch among the captives Or fall among the slain. In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.
5 Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hands is My indignation,
6 I send it against a godless nation And commission it against the people of My fury To capture booty and to seize plunder, And to trample them down like mud in the streets.
7 Yet it does not so intend, Nor does it plan so in its heart, But rather it is its purpose to destroy And to cut off many nations.
8 For it says, "Are not my princes all kings?

Isaiah 19:11-13

11 The princes of Zoan are mere fools; The advice of Pharaoh's wisest advisers has become stupid. How can you men say to Pharaoh, "I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings "?

13 The princes of Zoan have acted foolishly, The princes of Memphis are deluded; Those who are the cornerstone of her tribes Have led Egypt astray.

Jeremiah 2:22-29

22 "Although you wash yourself with lye And use much soap, The stain of your iniquity is before Me," declares the Lord GOD.
23 "How can you say, 'I am not defiled, I have not gone after the Baals '? Look at your way in the valley! Know what you have done! You are a swift young camel entangling her ways,
24 A wild donkey accustomed to the wilderness, That sniffs the wind in her passion . In the time of her heat who can turn her away? All who seek her will not become weary; In her month they will find her.
25 "Keep your feet from being unshod And your throat from thirst; But you said, 'It is hopeless! No! For I have loved strangers, And after them I will walk.'
26 "As the thief is shamed when he is discovered, So the house of Israel is shamed; They, their kings, their princes And their priests and their prophets,

Jeremiah 25:12-27

12 'Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,' declares the LORD , 'for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation.
13 'I will bring upon that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.
14 '(For many nations and great kings will make slaves of them, even them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds and according to the work of their hands.)' "
15 For thus the LORD , the God of Israel, says to me, "Take this cup of the wine of wrath from My hand and cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink it.
16 "They will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them."
17 Then I took the cup from the LORD'S hand and made all the nations to whom the LORD sent me drink it:
18 Jerusalem and the cities of Judah and its kings and its princes, to make them a ruin, a horror, a hissing and a curse, as it is this day;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes and all his people;
20 and all the foreign people, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines (even Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and the remnant of Ashdod );
21 Edom, Moab and the sons of Ammon;
22 and all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea;
23 and Dedan, Tema, Buz and all who cut the corners of their hair;
24 and all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who dwell in the desert;
25 and all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam and all the kings of Media;
26 and all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the earth which are upon the face of the ground, and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.
27 "You shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall and rise no more because of the sword which I will send among you."'

Lamentations 5:1-16

1 Remember, O LORD , what has befallen us; Look, and see our reproach!
2 Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, Our houses to aliens.
3 We have become orphans without a father, Our mothers are like widows.
4 We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.
5 Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, there is no rest for us.
6 We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; It is we who have borne their iniquities.
8 Slaves rule over us; There is no one to deliver us from their hand.
9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives Because of the sword in the wilderness.
10 Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.
11 They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Princes were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.
13 Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths stumbled under loads of wood.
14 Elders are gone from the gate, Young men from their music.
15 The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.
16 The crown has fallen from our head; Woe to us, for we have sinned!

Ezekiel 26:1-16

1 Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
2 "Son of man, because Tyre has said concerning Jerusalem, 'Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken; it has opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,'
3 therefore thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
4 'They will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers; and I will scrape her debris from her and make her a bare rock.
5 'She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,' declares the Lord GOD, 'and she will become spoil for the nations.
6 'Also her daughters who are on the mainland will be slain by the sword, and they will know that I am the LORD .' "
7 For thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I will bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses, chariots, cavalry and a great army .
8 "He will slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you and raise up a large shield against you.
9 "The blow of his battering rams he will direct against your walls, and with his axes he will break down your towers.
10 "Because of the multitude of his horses, the dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will shake at the noise of cavalry and wagons and chariots when he enters your gates as men enter a city that is breached.
11 "With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will slay your people with the sword; and your strong pillars will come down to the ground.
12 "Also they will make a spoil of your riches and a prey of your merchandise, break down your walls and destroy your pleasant houses, and throw your stones and your timbers and your debris into the water.
13 "So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will be heard no more.
14 "I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I the LORD have spoken," declares the Lord GOD.
15 Thus says the Lord GOD to Tyre, "Shall not the coastlands shake at the sound of your fall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter occurs in your midst?
16 "Then all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones, remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble every moment and be appalled at you.

Hosea 7

1 When I would heal Israel, The iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, And the evil deeds of Samaria, For they deal falsely; The thief enters in, Bandits raid outside,
2 And they do not consider in their hearts That I remember all their wickedness. Now their deeds are all around them; They are before My face.
3 With their wickedness they make the king glad, And the princes with their lies.
4 They are all adulterers, Like an oven heated by the baker Who ceases to stir up the fire From the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.
5 On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine; He stretched out his hand with scoffers,
6 For their hearts are like an oven As they approach their plotting; Their anger smolders all night, In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.
7 All of them are hot like an oven, And they consume their rulers; All their kings have fallen. None of them calls on Me.
8 Ephraim mixes himself with the nations; Ephraim has become a cake not turned.
9 Strangers devour his strength, Yet he does not know it; Gray hairs also are sprinkled on him, Yet he does not know it.
10 Though the pride of Israel testifies against him, Yet they have not returned to the LORD their God, Nor have they sought Him, for all this.
11 So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense; They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
12 When they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them in accordance with the proclamation to their assembly.
13 Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction is theirs, for they have rebelled against Me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against Me.
14 And they do not cry to Me from their heart When they wail on their beds; For the sake of grain and new wine they assemble themselves, They turn away from Me.
15 Although I trained and strengthened their arms, Yet they devise evil against Me.
16 They turn, but not upward, They are like a deceitful bow; Their princes will fall by the sword Because of the insolence of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.

Hosea 8:1-10

1 Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle the enemy comes against the house of the LORD , Because they have transgressed My covenant And rebelled against My law.
2 They cry out to Me, "My God, we of Israel know You!"
3 Israel has rejected the good; The enemy will pursue him.
4 They have set up kings, but not by Me; They have appointed princes, but I did not know it. With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves, That they might be cut off.
5 He has rejected your calf, O Samaria, saying, "My anger burns against them!" How long will they be incapable of innocence?
6 For from Israel is even this! A craftsman made it, so it is not God; Surely the calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.
7 For they sow the wind And they reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; It yields no grain. Should it yield, strangers would swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up; They are now among the nations Like a vessel in which no one delights.
9 For they have gone up to Assyria, Like a wild donkey all alone; Ephraim has hired lovers.
10 Even though they hire allies among the nations, Now I will gather them up; And they will begin to diminish Because of the burden of the king of princes.
