Proverbs 18:8-18

The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.
He also who is 1slack in his work 2Is brother to him who destroys.
The 3name of the LORD is a 4strong tower; The righteous runs into it and 5is safe.
A 6rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.
7Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But 8humility goes before honor.
He who 9gives an answer before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.
The 10spirit of a man can endure his sickness, But as for a 11broken spirit who can bear it?
The 12mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the 13ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
A man's 14gift makes room for him And brings him before great men.
The first to plead his case seems right, Until another comes and examines him.
The cast 15lot puts an end to strife And decides between the mighty ones.
