Hebrews 4:4

For he spake in a certain place
( Genesis 2:2 ) that is, Moses, the penman of that book spoke, or God by him:

of the seventh day on this wise;
of the seventh day of the world, or from the creation of the heavens and the earth:

and God did rest the seventh day from all his works:
of creation, but not of providence; for in them he works hitherto; nor does this rest suppose labour with fatigue and weariness, and ease and refreshment from it; only cessation from working in a creative way, and the utmost delight, complacency and satisfaction in what he had done. The Alexandrian copy leaves out the phrase, "the seventh day".

2 Porque a nosotros, lo mismo que a ellos, se nos ha anunciado la buena noticia; pero el mensaje que escucharon no les sirvió de nada, porque no se unieron en la fe a los que habían prestado atención a ese mensaje.

3 En tal reposo entramos los que somos creyentes, conforme Dios ha dicho:«Así que, en mi enojo, hice este juramento:“Jamás entrarán en mi reposo”».Es cierto que su trabajo quedó terminado con la creación del mundo,

4 pues en algún lugar se ha dicho así del séptimo día: «Y en el séptimo día reposó Dios de todas sus obras».

5 Y en el pasaje citado también dice: «Jamás entrarán en mi reposo».

6 Sin embargo, todavía falta que algunos entren en ese reposo, y los primeros a quienes se les anunció la buena noticia no entraron por causa de su desobediencia.
