2 Samuel 22:23-33

23 Denn alle seine Rechte waren vor mir, und seine Satzungen, ich bin nicht davon gewichen;

24 Und ich war vollkommen gegen ihn und hütete mich vor meiner Ungerechtigkeit.

25 Und Jehova erstattete mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach meiner Reinheit vor seinen Augen.

26 Gegen den Gütigen erzeigst du dich gütig, gegen den vollkommenen Mann erzeigst du dich vollkommen;

27 gegen den Reinen erzeigst du dich rein, und gegen den Verkehrten erzeigst du dich entgegenstreitend.

28 Und du wirst retten das elende Volk; aber deine Augen sind wider die Hoffärtigen, die du erniedrigen wirst.

29 Denn du bist meine Leuchte, Jehova; und Jehova erhellt meine Finsternis.

30 Denn mit dir werde ich gegen eine Schar anrennen, mit meinem Gott werde ich eine Mauer überspringen.

31 Gott, sein Weg ist vollkommen; Jehovas Wort ist geläutert; ein Schild ist er allen, die auf ihn trauen.

32 Denn wer ist Gott, außer Jehova, und wer ein Fels, außer unserem Gott?

33 Gott ist meine starke Feste, und er lenkt vollkommen meinen Weg.

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND SAMUEL 22

This chapter contains a song or psalm, the same with the eighteenth psalm, and which, according to Jarchi, was composed by David in his old age, and, as Kimchi says, at the end or close of his days; but Abarbinel is of opinion that it was written in his youthful time, in the midst of his troubles, and was sung by him as often as he had a deliverance from any; and which may account for the several variations in it from the eighteenth psalm, which, the same writer observes, are seventy four; and are not to be ascribed to the difference of copies, or neglect of copiers: and very probably, towards the close of his days, he revised it, and made it fit for general use, and sent it with the rest of his psalms to the chief musician; but the particular consideration of it, and of the differences in it from Ps 18:1-50 are referred to the exposition of that book in its course.
