Andstraightwayin the morning the chief priestsheld a consultationwith the eldersandscribesand the wholecouncil, and boundJesus, and carried him away, anddelivered him to Pilate.

AndPilateaskedhim,Artthou the King of the Jews?And he answeringsaid unto him,Thousayest it.

And the chief priestsaccusedhim of many things:butheanswerednothing.

AndPilateaskedhimagain,saying, Answerest thounothing*? behold how many things they witness against thee.

ButJesusyetanswerednothing;so that Pilatemarvelled.

Nowat that feast he released unto themoneprisoner,whomsoever they desired.

And there was one namedBarabbas, which lay boundwith them that had made insurrection with him,who had committedmurderin the insurrection.

And the multitude crying aloudbegan to desire him to do as he had everdone unto them.

ButPilateansweredthem,saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

For he knewthat the chief priests had deliveredhimforenvy.

But the chief priestsmoved the people,that he should ratherreleaseBarabbas unto them.
