11SixdayslaterJesustook with Him 2Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a highmountain by themselves.

And He was transfiguredbefore them; and His faceshonelike the sun, and His garmentsbecame as white as light.

And behold, Moses and Elijahappeared to them, talking with Him.

Petersaid to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, 3I will makethreetabernacleshere, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

While he was stillspeaking, a brightcloudovershadowed them, and behold, 4a voice out of the cloudsaid, "5This is My belovedSon, with whom I amwell-pleased; listen to Him!"

When the disciplesheard this, they fellface down to the ground and were terrified.

And Jesuscame to them and touched them and said, "Get up, and 6do not be afraid."

And lifting up their eyes, they sawnooneexceptJesusHimselfalone.

7As they were comingdown from the mountain, Jesuscommanded them, saying, "8Tell the vision to nooneuntil9the Son of Man has 10risen from the dead."

And His disciplesasked Him, "Whythen do the scribessay that 11Elijahmustcomefirst?"

And He answered and said, "Elijah is coming and will restoreallthings;
12
but I say to you that Elijahalreadycame, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. Soalso12the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."

Then the disciplesunderstood that He had spoken to them aboutJohn the Baptist.
The Demoniac
1413When they came to the crowd, a mancame up to Jesus, falling on his kneesbefore Him and saying,

"Lord, havemercy on my son, for he is a 14lunatic and is veryill*; for he oftenfalls into the fire and often into the water.
16
"I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him."
17
And Jesusanswered and said, "You unbelieving and pervertedgeneration, howlong* shall I be with you? Howlong* shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me."
18
And Jesusrebuked him, and the demoncame out of him, and the boy was cured at once*.
19
Then the disciplescame to Jesusprivately* and said, "Why*could we not drive it out?"
20
And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, 15if you havefaith the size of 16a mustardseed, you will say to 17thismountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and 18nothing will be impossible to you.
21
[ "19But thiskind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."]

20And while they were gatheringtogether in Galilee, Jesussaid to them, "The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men;
23
and 21they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the thirdday." And they were deeplygrieved.
