And he cast down the pieces of silverin the temple, and departed, andwent and hanged himself.

And the chief prieststook the silver pieces, and said, It isnotlawful for to puttheminto the treasury,because it is the price of blood.

And they tookcounsel, and boughtwiththem the potter'sfield,toburystrangersin.

Whereforethatfield was called, The field of blood,unto this day.

Then was fulfilled that which was spokenbyJeremy the prophet,saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom[a] they of the children of Israel did value;

Andgavethemfor the potter'sfield,as the Lordappointedme.

AndJesusstoodbefore the governor:and the governoraskedhim,saying, Artthou the King of the Jews?AndJesussaid unto him,Thousayest.

Andwhenhe was accusedof the chief priestsandelders, he answerednothing.

ThensaidPilate unto him, Hearest thounot how many things they witness againstthee?

And he answered*himtoneveraword;insomuch that the governormarvelledgreatly.

Nowat that feast the governor was wont to release unto the peopleaprisoner,whom they would.
