Jeremías 34:16-22

16 Sin embargo, ahora ustedes abandonaron su juramento y profanaron mi nombre al volver a tomar a los hombres y a las mujeres que habían liberado y los obligaron a ser esclavos otra vez.

17 »”Por lo tanto, esto dice el Señor
: ya que ustedes me han desobedecido al no poner en libertad a sus compatriotas, yo los pondré a ustedes en libertad para ser destruidos por guerra, enfermedad y hambre. Serán objeto de horror para todas las naciones de la tierra.

18 Puesto que rompieron las condiciones de nuestro pacto, los partiré en dos tal como ustedes partieron el becerro cuando caminaron entre las mitades para solemnizar sus votos.

19 Así es, yo los partiré, sean autoridades de Judá o de Jerusalén, funcionarios de la corte, sacerdotes o gente común, porque rompieron su juramento.

20 Los entregaré en manos de sus enemigos y ellos los matarán. Sus cuerpos serán alimento para los buitres y para los animales salvajes.

21 »”Yo entregaré a Sedequías, rey de Judá, y a sus funcionarios en manos del ejército del rey de Babilonia. A pesar de que el rey de Babilonia ha dejado Jerusalén por un tiempo,

22 llamaré a los ejércitos babilónicos para que regresen. Pelearán contra esta ciudad, la conquistarán y la incendiarán. Me aseguraré de que todas las ciudades de Judá sean destruidas y que nadie viva allí”».

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH 34

In this chapter is a prophecy of the taking and burning of Jerusalem; of the captivity of Zedekiah king of Judah; and of the destruction of the whole land, because of their breach of covenant to let servants go free. The time of this prophecy is observed, Jer 34:1,6,7; the taking and burning of the city, Jer 34:2; the carrying captive the king, who yet should not die a violent death, but in peace, and should have an honourable funeral, Jer 34:3-5; the covenant the king, princes, and people entered into, to let their servants go free, according to the law of God, which was at first observed, and afterwards retracted, Jer 34:8-11; which conduct is taken notice of and resented, Jer 34:13-16; and they are threatened with the sore judgments of God, sword, famine, pestilence, and captivity, the king, princes, priests, and people; and with the destruction, not on of Jerusalem, but of the rest of the cities of Judah, Jer 34:17-22.
