Help, LORD, for the godly are no more;1 the faithful have vanished from among men.
Everyone lies2 to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.33
May the LORD cut off all flattering lips4 and every boastful tongue54
that says, "We will triumph with our tongues;6 we own our lipsa--who is our master?"
"Because of the oppression7 of the weak and the groaning8 of the needy, I will now arise,9" says the LORD. "I will protect them10 from those who malign them."
And the words of the LORD are flawless,11 like silver refined12 in a furnace13 of clay, purified seven times.
O LORD, you will keep us safe14 and protect us from such people forever.158
The wicked freely strut16 about when what is vile is honored among men.
